In May of this year, a formula shortage struck our country and families and parents in our communities were in desperate need of food for their infants. Thanks to the generous donations of partners like you, Care Net of Puget Sound was able to help meet that need.
On May 12th, we began spreading the word that we have free formula through social media and email campaigns. Thanks to over 700 people on Facebook who shared this post, it went viral and reached over 55,000 people. King5 news even shared us as a resource.
Parent after parent contacted Care Net of Puget Sound and received formula at a time when they desperately needed it.
One woman we’ll call “Jayla” came to our Gig Harbor center in need of formula for her baby. She was defeated and desperate, having been at 3 stories that day looking for formula and each was out of stock.
Thankfully, a friend had shared our Facebook post and she’d reached out to us right away. When we gave Jayla the formula, she pulled out her wallet to pay us, but we explained all our services and resources are free and she doesn’t owe us anything.
Jayla teared up with gratitude. We also gave her a toy and diapers, and as we helped her carry these items out to her car, we asked if we could pray for her. She gratefully accepted prayer, tears welling up in her eyes, and hugged our team saying, “I’m so thankful I found you guys. I’ll definitely be back again.”
Providing life-changing support
This was not the first time God has called this ministry to rise up and serve in times of crisis and we know it won’t be the last.
Even now, as the formula shortage has subsided, moms and dads in our communities are still in need. By the grace of God, thousands of these parents are receiving spiritual and material support at our centers.
If you or someone you know needs extra support in their parenting journey, encourage them to visit our website and reach out for support.
